Not of my own job. But of watching good, smart talented people (like you) spend so much of their lives unhappy. And I dedicated my life to finding the methods that worked so that I could help all of the people around me. And I went looking at all of the conventional job wisdom, and I found out what everyone else was saying.

They were getting just another job that made them unhappy. Sure, they might have made a bit more money (but they often didn't), and every once in a while someone got lucky, but, for the most part, they weren't any happier in their new jobs than they were in their old ones.

I decided that I had to find a better way.

So, I started talking with the people who I know who have succeeded. And I started taking really good notes. And the more I learned about how really successful people created careers that were fulfilling, rewarding, and full of joy, the more I realized that all of the rules that we learned are wrong.
For most of my life, I learned that the ideal way to get a job is to:

Put together a resume and cover letter describing your experience and job history
Search through the job listings and find jobs that you'd be interested in
Send the resume to the address in the job listings
Follow-up on the resume with a phone-call
Wait

And guess what I learned?

The people who are really successful and fulfilled don't do it that way. Because that way doesn't work any more.

Notice that I said "any more". Because it worked once. In the old days, a company would get 10-20 resumes for any given job that they posted for. And they would go through the resumes and pick the ones that were the best and bring those people for an interview.
But today, when a company posts a job, they get hundreds of resumes. They can't possibly read them all and give them real consideration.
Certainly, they do look at resumes. But the "send a resume and hope that you get looked at" isn't the way that the most successful and fulfilled people find the jobs that they're looking for.

When I learned the secrets of those people who are truly fulfilled and successful, I needed to share it.

I couldn't keep it to myself. Because there are too many people out there who just aren't as happy, successful or fulfilled as they could be. In fact, a recent study said that over 60% of people in North America are going to look for a new job this year. Which means that odds are that you're not as happy or fulfilled as you could be.
